The Spice Device cooking tools were born when Theresa Smith suggested that her newly retired from the aerospace industry father, Bill, should continue with his interest in designing things. She suggested that he might like to put his mind to measuring spices without having to use measuring spoons and thought that a measuring spice bottle cap might be the very thing. Bill worked out a design for the project and came up with Spice Device, the measuring cap that measures the correct amount with a mere twist of the wrist. The cooking tools take the guesswork and the messy work out of cooking.
Spice Device was a finalist in the QVC search for the best one hundred inventions over the prior decade and the innovative cooking tools were so well received by the viewers that they were a complete sell-out. One viewer called to say that the cooking tools were such a great idea that it was surprising that no-one had thought of it before, which is a usual reaction to the simplest of new concepts. Spice Device was also entered in the American Inventor ABC TV show and was selected as a finalist and was in the top ten out of 2,500 entries.
The panel of judges included George Foreman, who loved the idea of the cooking tools because of the accurate measuring which would improve the taste of many recipes.
Spice Device is a product of Dynamic Designs, LLC. which is located in Lomita, California.
